The Griswold Company is an independent brokerage firm offering agency execution in all available pools of liquidity. Our Sales Representatives provide an array of services that include strategies such as algorithmic execution, pairs trading, crowd representation and derivatives methodology. Ultimately, Griswold has established an outsourced trading desk for institutional investors.

Our company was founded in 1988 by the McCooey family. Over the past two decades, Griswold has survived the many upheavals and dislocations experienced by many in the securities industry. While we have very much grown beyond the traditional family business model, we have maintained a culture built upon the collective experiences of each and every employee.

We remain committed to the idea that professional floor brokers can often provide expertise in an agency or negotiated market. In fact, we currently employee more floor brokers than most all of the major houses and independent shops alike. We have found that combining this expertise with an array of electronic tools and a hands-on approach, has allowed us to add significant value to each and every execution. While during volatile breakout situations human involvement has proven to be extraordinarily valuable, we refuse to solely rely upon this value in a fragmented electronic environment. In recent years, we have begun to rely very much upon ECN’s, dark pool and algorithms, which are utilized in tandem with an auction model itself.

Over the past two years, Griswold has endeavored to take advantage of both the consolidation and attrition in the Wall Street community by forming a number of strategic partnerships and alliances. This effort has involved folding former competitors into our firm itself, and providing niche-based execution services to institutions that wished to limit their infrastructure and/or trading costs. Additionally, we recently introduced a team that focuses solely on options execution and derivatives strategies. We believe that this core expertise will further enhance our model.

We also provide prime brokerage and custodial services extended to our clients, through a partnership and clearing relationship with Goldman Sachs.
